Ethiopia Guji Hambela | Blueberry & Grapefruit

The essence of Ethiopia. A pristine Natural process coffee from the Guji zone, delivering a tea-like body with explosive notes of sun-dried blueberry and zesty grapefruit.

The Origin Story

Hailing from the revered Guji zone in Ethiopia, specifically the Hambela Estate, this lot embodies the essence of Ethiopian coffee culture. Cultivated by smallholder farmers and consisting of indigenous Heirloom variety beans, this coffee is handled using the traditional Natural Process. The whole cherry is dried under the African sun, allowing the fruit pulp to deeply infuse the bean with its inherent sweetness and intense Blueberry and Red Fruits notes, resulting in a vibrant and complex cup.

Roast Philosophy

This coffee is subjected to a delicate Filter Roast (Light). Our philosophy is focused on maximizing the floral clarity and the fruit intensity imparted by the Natural Process. The light development ensures that the crisp Grapefruit notes and the elegant Tea-like body are preserved, delivering a transparent and complex cup that showcases why this is considered one of the best natural Ethiopian coffees.

Sensory Profile Deep Dive

This is a quintessential Filter coffee known for its wild fruit sweetness and refined texture.

  • Body: A light, Tea-like body that is silky, clean, and highly refreshing on the palate.
  • Acidity: High, bright, and clean Citric Acidity, resembling the zest of Grapefruit.
  • Notes: Dominant notes of sweet Blueberry, tart Grapefruit, and subtle hints of Black Tea and dried tropical fruit.

Degassing Advice (Expert Tip)

Due to the light roast and the complex organic compounds in the Natural Process, we highly recommend an extended rest period. Allow these beans to rest for a minimum of 10 to 14 days post-roast date to ensure optimal gas release and smooth extraction in your pour-over device.
